Four People Shot at Howe Community Park – Unauthorized Event Descends into Chaos
Late Saturday evening, an unsanctioned event of an estimated several hundred individuals at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento turned violent when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as law enforcement officers were actively clearing the crowd.
The Incident
Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office was alerted involving individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the park. A follow-up call advised of a possible physical altercation and people leaving the area quickly.
An airship was deployed and searched the park but did not locate any physical confrontation.
However, multiple hundreds of people had collected at the park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unauthorized gathering. Responding deputies positioned themselves around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out through their vehicle PA systems.
As officers worked to clear the park, between 20 and 25 shots were fired — triggering a panicked crowd in all directions at once.
Those Injured
Four people — one female and three males, all in their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area check here hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. All four victims were stable. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District was on scene and assisted in the field.

Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way corridor side of the park alongside the Home Depot store at the 2200 block. The Home here Depot was placed under temporary lockdown. Suspect Information
Over scanner traffic, it was confirmed that a related suspect vehicle — identified as a Kia — was stopped in Solano County with four detainees. Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to retrieve the detainees and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation.
